wade's: a place to "shoot" the breeze

my beautiful roommate and i went shooting the other day with her lovely boyfriend, (my adopted brother) and his buddy. i'm pretty sure that it was a blast. i was nervous because i've never shot a hand gun before... and polls had never shot a gun at ALL... so we were nervous together....
but there we were!
we both shot a 45 and i shot a 9mm

i only hit the target once... my brother did those other ones...
(if you can read it, it says "kiley's first shot" and then points to it)

they were so cute... he helped her aim...

these are the men i want protecting me... a wonderful shot, both of them...
it was QUITE an experience... i shot once... then got nervous and missed the dang paper with every other shot... but i got some great tips from these men, so next time i'll hopefully do better. and next time we'll shoot rifles too... woo hoo!!
the first gun i ever shot was a black powder rifle... aaaaand i made my own bullets.
bam! i'm amazing ;) haha!!
anyway... fun times. i can't wait to go again!!

hilarity at lowes

my dear roommate Ems and i have been doing computer training at Lowe's these past couple days...
so pretty much we've been sitting in a room, with no air conditioning, only a fan to circulate the stuffy air, staring at computers taking stupid tests for 8 hours a day for 2 days...
can you say BORING?!
the brain capacity is close to full and we're tired and bored, which makes everything 10 times more humorous...
there we are, taking tests, laughing at the ridiculous answers and text questions...
Ems turns to me and says:
"what a terrible word for someone that's dyslexic... (something like) Cynerjyk"
me: "haha, yeah! they can't say their S's..."
(laughing)
me: "wait... you said 'dyslexic', i heard 'lisp'..."
(both laughing hysterically)
oh wow... i'm pretty much sure that i'm the most retarded person alive...
wow...

just thought i'd share a bit of hilarity...

co-ed softball... a laughing matter...

so i've been recruited to the F9ers co-ed softball team...
sadly i've only been able to go to 1 practice due to, well... strep/mono and other things that have been getting in the way lately.
anyway, last night was our first game.
what i didn't know about these games is that they're by TIME not by INNING... we get 1 hour to play a game, then 1 hour to play another game against the same team... if we each win one it's a tie. if one team wins both, obviously they win.
i played left-center field last night... first time i've played softball in 4 years... so i was a little rusty... i missed a catch that any other day i would have caught... stupid me, i didn't wear my glasses the first inning... needless to say i was pissed and wore them the rest of the game.
i did however get a couple singles and i stole home in the first game.
the whole time i was standing out in left-center i was making my own commentary on the game... well... kinda. more like i was making fun of people out loud, but no one else could hear me... so i laughed at my own jokes... gotta love the easily amused.
there was this one guy on the other team that was giving pointers to the pitcher... saying things like "don't be afraid to throw it a little further..." cuz she wasn't quite getting it over the plate... and she would just say "ok, yeah, thanks...." and continue on. well, next inning they switched and he was the pitcher... and he SUCKED!! HA-larious. this same guy also hit a pop RIGHT to our left fielder... after telling his team to keep it low, keep it down... blah blah... wow... so for the rest of the game he was nic-named "the cocky one".
anyway... it was a GREAT game... we beat the CRAP out of them first game, and then came from behind and tied it up in the second game. woo hoo!! :)
GO F9ERS!!! hahaha!!
wish us luck for the rest of the season!

junior? JUNIOR?!

Once upon a time, Big Kev, a friend of Little Ems, came over and brought his VCR (or "VHS player", as i like to call it... shut up Ross...) and the Indiana Jones trilogy... while watching them, the Last Crusade to be precise, i happened to look up in the corner of our vaulted ceiling and i saw this huge moth... Little Ems says "he's been there forever! he needs a name" Polls says "lets call him Indiana Jones Junior" i said "just Junior... (polls: why?) 'Junior' is what his dad called him... his name isn't Indiana Jones, he wanted to be called Indiana but... 'we named the DOG Indiana'..." so we started calling this moth Junior.
one day i came home and i was sitting on the couch and all of a sudden, mid conversation with i can't remember who, i stopped, looked up, almost giving myself whip-lash and he was gone. "JUNIOR?! JUNIOR?!! NOOOO!!!! JUNIOR'S GONE!!" i was distraught. i couldn't find him on the ceiling, the walls, the nooks, ANYwhere!! he was gone.
i found out today that my Ukrainian friend, Vanya, had captured my Junior, and set him free!!
rude.
*sigh* no more junior.

brazillians, mac n' cheese, and strep throat

so basically the past 2 days have royally sucked...
*sigh* where do i begin?
yesterday morning i woke up feeling a little less than great, and nervous as heck because my lovely roommate talked me into going to get a Brazilian wax with her. i'm not going in to detail, because i fear losing some of you as friends... but let me just tell you that it hurt just as much, if not more, than you can imagine... crap. i admit it... i cried. but, crazy as it sounds, i don't regret it. just like polls says... "it's one of those things on your list of things to do before you die". i got so worked up and used so much energy trying NOT to scream profanities at the top of my lungs that i was flipping exhausted when it was all over. i almost fell asleep on the couch while she got hers.
well, on the drive home my body started to ache... my lower back was the worst. we stopped for gas and the pain was unbearable. tears started rolling down my cheeks. polls got back in the car and asked me if i was crying, to which i answered yes, but that i didn't know why. to make matters worse i couldn't make it stop. they just kept coming and more and more of my body started aching. my skin started burning, but i was freezing!! i kept getting chills and goose bumps even though it was hot outside. it hurt to swallow. when we got home i went inside, grabbed my blanket and snuggle pillow and curled up on the couch and cried. sobbed for the first time in who knows how long. and i still didn't know why. i mean yeah, i was in pain, and yeah i had kinda just gone through a bit of a trauma, but sobbing uncontrollably?! what's wrong with me?! i called my best friend, spat and without me saying more than hello he knew something was terribly wrong. i got a long-distance hug, and someone to talk to for a bit while the tears subsided.
unfortunately i had to get up and dressed and make myself look presentable because i had a drug test to take. (yeah, i'm going back to work for Lowe's... long story...)
after that my B convinced me that laying in the sun would make me feel better, so i put on my swim suit and dress and went down to the beach and laid in the sun... but it didn't help. i hugged him goodbye and went home and curled up on my couch again.
i asked a couple friends to come and give me a blessing. p.s. i don't think that i can say it enough, THANKS GUYS!!! you're seriously the greatest ever. and just fyi, i'm feeling 10 times better today.
after that i was forced to sit in a hot bath for half an hour... let me tell you, that's LONG past pruney-finger time... and i had to drink this nasty crap that's supposed to make my throat not hurt anymore. when i got out i dried off and got in my pj's and got my bed all ready to get in, put some water bottles next to it and some saltines. (dang those are good crackers) i took my temperature before i went to bed... sure enough, i had a fever... 102.4
i sweat it off during the night... i had a fan blowing on me and everything! i woke up with soaking wet sheets and clothes... that's just foul. but hey, broke my fever and i'm already feeling better. i discovered that it was strep throat and not the flu, which is what we thought at first... but yeah... i've never felt so crappy before in my LIFE... i really thought that i was going to have to go see a doctor... i HATE the doctor... do i sound like i'm 5? all they ever do is poke me and tell me things i already know and then charge me through the nose for telling me that.
well... TODAY i feel better... not 100% yet, but better. sadly, my roommate had to go to the eye doctor to get her eye checked out that i hit with a pop can about a week ago... i can't remember if i've already told that story, but the short version is we were dorking around playing baseball with a pop can and a steel bat and i smashed her in the eye with the can by accident... i don't think i can apologize enough... i still feel bad, but she keeps telling me not to worry about it... and then today she tells me she's going to the doctor... great. OH! and she had surgery... apparently the black dot she kept seeing when she looked up wasn't a bruise... it was her retina disconnecting from the rest of her flippin eye!! still, she tells me not to worry... how can i not?! i sent my roommate to the doctor for SURGERY and i'm not supposed to worry about it? really?
anyway... i'm spending the night at a friends house because the doctor doesn't want her running the risk of getting infected... i can understand that. i'm just not happy that i can't be there for her like she was there for me last night. i feel bad that i can't take care of her like she took care of me... *sigh*
anyway... i hung out at home today, watching almost every movie i own and drinking water. i had mac n' cheese for the first time in a long time... it was gross, but it was warm and easy to eat... so i suffered through it. besides, i ran out of crackers and straight water wasn't cuttin' it. i was starving.
now i'm just chillin with my little bro... watching Fun With Dick and Jane... HA-larious!!
peace out.

laughing is a workout...

k guys... i've been increasingly worse at this...
so sorry...
in my defense, it has been CRAZY in my life here this past month.
i'm pretty sure that i've never laughed as much as i have since i moved in with my girls, Polls and Ems. they make me so happy!! such positive people are hard to find. they're so laid back and anti-drama, i love it. they're always in a good mood, and constantly telling me how beautiful they think i am and how much they love me.
i love them too... so much that words can't describe.
every time one of us says something hilarious we write it on a post-it and put it on the fridge... i think i've mentioned that before... every time i get something out of the fridge i laugh just thinking about it.
last night was no exception.
it was the most amazing thunder and lightning storm EVER.
it seriously looked like a light show... it was INCREDIBLE!!
Polls and i were on our way home after taking home our gimpy friend Abraham and the lightning was going nuts!! flash after flash lit up the sky...
as we pulled into our apartment complex the entire sky lit up about 4 times right in a row.
i yelled at the top of my lungs "WHOOOOOA!!! did you SEE it?!"
Polls turns to me and says "ok, hold on... 'WHOOOOOA!!'..."
i busted up laughing... almost ran us into a couple curbs before we made it to our parking spot.
HAlarious! i laughed so hard i was crying and almost peed my pants, for reals.
we came in and re-capped for Ems and her friend and laughed all over again.
every day is like this around our apartment. we can't go ONE day without one of us saying something completely ridiculous and hilarious all at the same time.
we crack ourselves up.
oh wow... so funny.

i love living here!! :) ever day is better and better :)

failure to blog...

i'd like to apologize for my lack of blogging lately...
it has been a little less than ordinary for me this past bit...
all in one month i completely turned my life around.
seriously.
i started a new, full-time job, i moved out of my parent's lovely abode, i started working out more consistently and eating right for the first time in YEARS, and all in a weekend, became as independent as i've ever been.
woo hoo!
my head has been in 100 different places all at once.
i don't think i've slept a full 8 hours a night more than twice or maybe 3 times.
i've been working out more and kicking my own butt.
i've been eating a bunch of healthy crap.
i've made new friends, and strengthened my existing friendships.
AND... i look Mexican.
i can't tell you how much i absolutely LOVE taking a 12 minute nap and waking up 3 shades darker... it's the best.
my mom keeps saying i'm gunna look like a leather purse...
ANYway...
i'd like to take this opportunity to give a little public shout out to all those people that made this life transformation possible.
first of all: my family.
i have to admit i was a little upset when everything for my move started falling apart at the last minute, but you all came through for me in the end.
Mom and Dad... i love you. and i know i don't say it enough, but i miss and love you both very much. what'dya say? Sunday? dinner at your place? done.
lerd... thanks for the support-from-afar. i know if you were here you'd be all over helping me out in any way you could. it's the thought that counts. i love you!!
em... thanks for everything. the use of your van, the vote of confidence, the ha-rah! when i finally got out... i was so happy and overwhelmed that i cried when you left. the secret is out... i totally did.
mole... thanks for being here and helping toss stuff in my window... you too 'fer!! i love you guys!!
crint... thanks for the laughs! every time i get a text from you i bust up. sorry i don't always reply... life's been a bit busy. i'll try to do better and be around a little more. i know it wasn't exactly cool of me to just leave you alone with the parental unit... my bad ;) haha!!
and now a shout out to my wonderful roommates.
thank you for all you have done. i don't think i could have moved into a better apartment with better people. i'm pretty sure that this is the greatest experience of my life. yeah, the lack of sleep has gotten to me at times, but it's pretty worth it just to be with you guys. i love waking up in the morning knowing that all i have to do is open my door and there you are!!!
i'm gunna have to agree with you poll's... it's like having the longest slumber party EVER... every night is a party!
CAN life get any better? i submit that it CANNOT!!
and i LOVE that you write all the silly things i say on sticky notes so that i'm always reminded of the funny times and happiness that i've felt since June 13th. every time i get something out of the fridge i crack up just reading what i've said...
and for the record, i'm still freakin jealous of the dang computer.
ems. your face. it's so big. apple?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
shh! Lewis is gunna kill us. i need to teach myself how to laugh a little quieter...
HA! who am i kidding?
Last but not least, Banana... my pseudo-roommate. girl. thanks for stayin with me. i know i haven't been exactly the greatest for the past month, but i'm glad that you understand me and know that i love you no matter what. and even though my life has been turned up-side-down i'll find my groove and get back to normal... one of these days. ;)
you're beautiful.
*sigh*
it's almost midnight... i think i'll go have another FIBER ONE!!!! and head to bed now...
hope you all didn't miss me too much!!

update on the sitch...

so in the last week or so i've started working full time, i moved into a new apartment, and i've had minimal sleep... i might even go as far as to say that i am sleep deprived...
but! i've been trying to maintain a "cheerful disposition" and at time i've even faked happy so as to not scare people away... i'd say it's worked out well so far... haha!!
only side-effect: memory loss...
i can't remember anything to save my life.
at work i'll pull out papers and then 2 minutes later, forget why i got them out.
at home i'll forget that i've put laundry in the wash/dryer.
in phone calls and text messaging i've forgotten if i actually had a real conversation with someone... so if this has happened to you, i apologize... i'll try harder to actually be coherent when we talk... hahaha!!
anyway... i thought i'd give a quick update on the sitch...
we get internet tomorrow!! so i'll be back to my usual-frequent-poster-self!! :)
happy blogging!!

life's not so peachy...

so ya know how i said that everything was going my way...
like...
well...
that was a week ago.
now that it's coming down to "moving day" everything seems to be going to crap in record time.
ever since i decided to move out my parents have been a little less than positive.
i understand their concern... i know that they don't want to see me fail, and neither do i...
but have a little faith.
i owe a BUNCH to my awesome home teacher... he's been WONDERFUL!! he's the greatest home teacher anyone could ever ask for. i know you might think yours is great, but mine is better. so there. he's done everything he can to help me out and nothing is going according to plan... i feel SO bad!! he was gunna postpone his plans for Saturday to help me move!! how sweet is he?! of course i didn't want him to cancel his plans for ME, but he insisted, so, naturally, i insisted on buying him lunch to make up for it...
after this run-around i think i'll actually take him to lunch, dinner, and dessert...
the run-around:
the original plan was Friday after work he would meet me at my house, as would my older sister and we would make it in one trip: clothes in the mini-van, everything else in the truck and trailer...
that plan was foiled because the other people helping me out (namely my sisters and parents) were going to be at graduation for my little brother (that i was going to miss because it starts at 6 and i'm not off work til 7)
so we changed the plans to Saturday early afternoon-ish...
he had plans for Saturday afternoon, i didn't want to mess them up, even though he said about 100 times that it was alright, and that i needed the help more... so we planned to do it in the morning on Saturday...
well... that's all well and good, but the rest of the moving crew won't be there!
crap...
why you ask?
unfortunately, we had a family friend pass away this week... her funeral is on Saturday.
we also have a family friend getting married... the wedding is on Saturday...
it's my sister and her husband's weekend for the boys to visit... that's on Saturday...
it's my other sister's daughter's tee-ball game weekend... that's on Saturday...
is there anything that's NOT happening on Saturday?!
for the love.
i'm scrambling to figure out how this is all gunna work out... on Saturday...
i'm exhausted... mentally, physically, emotionally...
i'm so tired, all i wanna do is sit here and cry.
it honestly feels like everything is against me this weekend.
i'm trying to stay positive.
it's not exactly easy...
i'll let you know how it works out...

-kmw-

best and worst...

readin stuff on MSN.com again... found an article...
11 bests and worsts of being a parent...
i copied the blurbs that i thought were the most humorous... and that REALLY applied to me hahaha!!

11 BESTS:
1 Childbirth
2 First Time Out of the House
3 Potty Training
4 Family Meals As a parent, you rediscover the four main food groups and learn to cook instead of dial for dinner. Better yet, you actually sit down to eat and talk with your family. You'll find out what your kids learned at school. You'll hear their views on current events. Maybe you'll just laugh together. Not every meal will be so satisfying, but sharing mealtime with your family has a way of putting life into perspective, one day at a time.
5 Playtime
6 Hugs and Kisses A peck on the cheek at bedtime. A full-body squeeze before you head out to work. Hugs and kisses from your kids are shots of adrenaline, caffeine, and sugar all at once. Shows of affection may get fewer and farther between as children grow older, but each one of them is a natural high.
7 Seeing Yourself in Your Child Your daughter inherits your sense of humor and your spouse's corkscrew curls. Even better, she does not inherit your inability to add fractions or your husband's dance moves. Observing the physical and personality traits that manifest themselves in your children—and those that, thankfully, do not—is one of the most gratifying parts of watching your children evolve.
8 Discovering New Hobbies
9 Reliving First Love... and Heartbreak
10 Graduation Days
11 Rediscovering Your Spouse

11 WORSTS:
1 Philosophical Acquiescence
2 Sleep Deprivation Nothing can prepare you for those first few months (or in some cases years) of waking up every couple hours to change a diaper, prepare a bottle, or walk around the living room in a daze hoping the kid you're cradling will finally call it a night. (They probably will around dawn.) Nursing mothers obviously bear the brunt of this, but dads who want to do their part (and to those who don't: Why are you sitting on the sidelines?) feel the effects too. When you're both this tired it affects everything—your social life, your productivity at home and at work, and your ability to communicate amicably. Watch out for that last one.
3 The Blowout Diaper Poop. Better get used to it being everywhere—on the furniture, on your clothes, under your nails. And it's staggering how much poop that little human can store up in its body and, without warning, evacuate all at once. Think Mount Vesuvius. The prudent will stock up on extra baby wipes and take them everywhere the baby goes, just for this moment. My wife and I still refer to our seminal diaper-changing moment as "The Costco Parking Lot." We had the car cleaned afterward.
4 Public Embarrassment
5 Mortality Whether the deceased is a goldfish or a grandparent, managing your child through the death of someone close is one of the toughest and saddest parts of your job. There's not much you can do to stop the tears, so be prepared to ride it out and fumble your way through big questions like, "Why does anything have to die?" If there's a silver lining, it's that kids seem to bounce back faster than adults do, eventually giving you time to grieve—but only after you've helped them get over the loss.
6 Marriage Issues
7 Health Issues
8 Routine
9 Breakdown There are times you'll feel at your wits' end, and not in some funny way portrayed in a movie or on a sitcom. When something snaps inside, you feel it and the resulting emotions may be confusing or alarming. Worse, you may have no outlet to deal with them because you're the parent and the show must go on. It feels warm and fuzzy to say these trying moments help you grow as a person, but the reality is that sometimes they don't. Sometimes they take the life right out of you.
10 Trouble Child You get the call at work to come to school for a meeting with the principal. Turns out little Johnny is the school bully and he just punched three kids and a teacher. You saw the tendencies at home, but now your worst fears are true, and in addition to dealing with school administration you have several other parents to answer to. What did you do wrong, and is fixing the problem coming years too late?
11 Worry Despite your best efforts to project a calm façade, inside you're wondering if your kids are failing at school, having trouble making friends, hanging out with the wrong crowd, or experimenting in ways that make your skin crawl. As they get older, they spend more time away from you and your protective eyes and arms, and though you try to grant them independence, you dread getting bad news. Suddenly it hits you: You're just like your mom. Somehow that doesn't make you feel any better.

yup... i think i've covered almost all of those worsts... still working on the bests...

this one's for you brother...
i still love ya!!

Father's Day RD Jokes

i subscribe to readers digest for emails of the jokes and everything, as i've mentioned before, and today i got the father's day jokes... so i thought i'd share

The Right Choice

My 16-year-old brother, Ryan, was out late with friends one night. Suddenly he realized it was Father's Day and he had neglected to buy a card for our dad. After much searching, Ryan located an open store, but was disappointed to find only two cards left on a picked-over rack. Selecting one, he brought it home and, somewhat sheepishly, presented it to our father.

Upon opening it, Dad read this message: "You've been like a father to me." He looked at Ryan, puzzled.

"Well, Dad," Ryan tried to explain, "it was either that or the card that said, 'Now that I'm a father too!'"

-- Submitted by Anne Carlson

Thanks for the Soda, Pop!

Before I took the old family car to college, my father loaded the trunk with soft-drink bottles filled with oil, coolant and transmission fluid. Sure enough, my car overheated. Scolding myself for not listening to my father's instructions, I looked at the engine and saw how well he knew me. The oil cap was labeled Dr Pepper, the transmission stick, Coke, and the empty coolant container, Diet Pepsi. I finished the trip safely.

-- Submitted by Charlotte G. Alexander

Say What, Dad?

Our Gen-X daughter, Cristie, made my husband a Father's Day card entitled "Things My Dad Would Never Say." Such as:

"Can you turn up that music?"

"Go ahead and take my truck. Here's 50 bucks for gas."

"I LOVE your tattoo. We should both get new ones."

"Here, you take the remote."

-- Submitted by Deanna Schneider

Watch the Wash, Dad...

I decided to make myself useful and do a load of the family laundry. When I took the clothes out of the machine, I discovered -- to my dismay -- that I had also washed the watch my wife had given me while we were dating. "Don't expect me to replace it," she said later with an obvious lack of sympathy. By the time Father's Day rolled around, however, she had relented and gave me a beautiful new watch. Attached was a note with this stipulation: "DRY-CLEAN ONLY!"

-- Submitted by Paul Diblasi

What a Card!

Father's Day was near when I brought my three-year-old son, Tyler, to the card store. Inside, I showed him the cards for dads and told him to pick one.

When I looked back, Tyler was picking up one card after another, opening them up and quickly shoving them back into slots, every which way. "Tyler, what are you doing?" I asked. "Haven't you found a nice card for Daddy yet?"

"No," he replied. "I'm looking for one with money in it."

Papa Bear

My husband's cousin married a former Marine who now works for United Parcel Service. They bought their four-year-old son two stuffed bears -- one in a UPS uniform and the other in Marine garb. When the boy seemed confused, his father brought out a picture of himself in full Marine dress. "See, Connor?" he explained, pointing to the photo and then to the bear. "That's Daddy."

Connor's eyes went from one to the other, and then he asked in a puzzled voice, "You used to be a bear?"

Pop Vs. Pup

While flying from Denver to Kansas City, Kansas, my mother was sitting across the aisle from a woman and her eight-year-old son. Mom couldn't help laughing as they neared their destination and she heard the mother say to the boy, "Now remember -- run to Dad first, then the dog."

-- Submitted by Karla J. Kasper

Paternal Payback

On the day I received my learner's permit, my father agreed to take me out for a driving lesson. With a big grin, he hopped in behind the driver's seat. "Why aren't you sitting up front on the passenger's side?" I asked.

"Kirsten, I've been waiting for this ever since you were a little girl," Dad replied. "Now it's my turn to sit back here and kick the seat."

-- Submitted by Kirsten Wiley

No. 1 on Our List -- Literally!

My father was completely lost in the kitchen and never ate unless someone prepared a meal for him. When Mother was ill, however, he volunteered to go to the supermarket for her. She sent him off with a carefully numbered list of seven items.

Dad returned shortly, very proud of himself, and proceeded to unpack the grocery bags. He had one bag of sugar, two dozen eggs, three hams, four boxes of detergent, five boxes of crackers, six eggplants, and seven green peppers.

RD Funnies...

Let's face it, all the good stuff happens after midnight.
--Matt Groening--

"Purpose of visit?" asked the customs agent as we approached a checkpoint at the U.S.-Canadian border.
"We're going to a wedding," my wife said.
"Are you carrying any weapons--knives, guns?" he asked.
"No," she said. "It's not that kind of wedding."

"I'll never find the right guy," I heard a young guest at the wedding shower sigh.
"Don't give up," urged an older woman. "Every pot has a lid."
"Or," a cynical voice behind her offered, "you could be a skillet."

A distraught driver was grateful when out Marine son, Jim, stopped to help put out a fire in her car. "I prayed, 'please let the next car stop,' and it was you," the woman gushed.
Jim's mother was also pleased when she heard the story.
"Who would have thought," she told him, "that you'd be the answer to any girl's prayers?"

everything's going my way...

i don't think that my life could be any better right now than it already it, but give it about a day... and it'll be EVEN BETTER!!!
at the rate i'm going, i should be playing the lottery! i might just win!!
so, yeah, after the fight with the parentals i decided it was time... i'm 22 and still living in my parents basement... yeah, that's gotta change!! so i was thinking about moving out...
"hmm... i wonder if anyone would wanna move into an apartment with me..."
*text message from my girl*
"hey! you wouldn't happen to be wanting to move out any time soon would you?"
"actually, yeah... i've wanted to move out since i got home from school..."
"REALLY?! CALL ME!!"
so i did, we ended up chatting for a good hour or so...
turns out her sister is moving up from Utah in a couple weeks and the two of them and another girl were gunna move into an apartment, but the other girl decided to bail on them... so they were looking for another roommate...
she said her first instinct was to look through her phone, but then she thought that would be lame, so she CraigsListed for roommates and came up with a whole-lota-nothin... so then she went looking through her phone and the first name that popped out at her was ME!! Kiley Girl! :) hahaha!! so she decided to take a chance, and ask!
all i had to do was apply to the complex, tell them who i was gunna be living with, give a reference (my parents) and wait for an approval...
I GOT APPROVED TODAY!!!
literally about half an hour ago...
so...
tomorrow we go to check out the apartment during lunch
move in date is next Thursday or Friday of next week (the 12th or 13th)
i'm pretty freaking excited! it's hard for me to focus on work right now... hahaha!! this next week is going to be absolutely incredible!!

6/5/08- check out apt. (sign lease)
6/6/08- payday at WISM
6/7/08- go out and kick it with the sister in P.O.
6/12 or 6/13- get the keys to the apt. and move in
6/13/08- last day at WISM (they decided to give me sat. off)
6/15/08- payday at PCWA
6/16/08- first FULL day at PCWA

AHH!!! i'm so excited!!
wish me luck! i hope i really like this place!!

grow up...

if you've read my Twitter, you already know what went down last night, but let me go back...
my best friend is quite smart. she is also quick witted.
i love to hear her stories of snips she's tossed at people to which they have no intelligent response...
perfect example:
"we're not talking right now... but,
we're big enough to get over it."
LOVE it.
and the context of the original conversation makes it HILARIOUS.
i laugh just thinking about it.
what makes it even better?
it totally applied to the fight that went on last night between my parents and i...
yes, we were fighting AGAIN over something STUPID...
(isn't that always how it goes?)
i was so floored i wanted to scream until i passed out.
they weren't listening, i wasn't listening, it was a big mess...
i was so mad i cried.
i went to my room, and went to bed angry...
not a good idea if you ask me...
i woke up with a headache and puffy eyes... sucky...
but all morning all i could think about was that little comment...
we're big enough to get over it.
and it's true. we are! honestly... it was probably stupid for us to be fighting over anything at all in the first place, but the fact that we can get over things like that is awesome.
yeah, i'm a stubborn, hard-headed, smart-alec that should probably know better by now, and maybe one of these days i'll grow out of it
(keep your fingers crossed... my dad's 57 and he's still like that)
for the time being, i'll just stick with being big enough to get over it...

TAG!! i'm it...

yup, i tagged myself, but i made a few changes so it's not just a repeat...

What were you doing a decade ago?
wow... i was 12... so i was probably trying to not be so awkward during my awkward-stage (that lasted about... 8 years...) and playing flag football at recess with the boys. this was the summer i broke it off with my elementary-boyfriend because we were so mature now and needed to move on... (hahaha! yeah right)

4 Things on my semi-long-term to-do list:
1) pay off my student loans
2) pay off my credit cards... and then cut them up :)
3) get a house to put all my kitchen stuff in ;)
4) be happy... consistently... in all aspects of my life

4 Places that I would like to visit:
1) Vegas, preferably the set of CSI to meet the cast (yeah yeah... lea'me alone)
2) Hawaii
3) all those countries on the other side of the Atlantic that you always see pictures of...
4) Mexico

4 Co-Workers that I will never forget, and why:
1) Jim - the man that taught me everything i know about the plumbing department (not to mention the reason i even decided to transfer out of cashiering) and about life in general. i am his favorite Semi-Italian Plumbing Princess and student. he is a great man and deserves the best of everything. i'm SURE he's making quite the amazing angel. miss you lots Jim!! :) i don't know where i'd be if i had never met you! give 'em hell!
2) Brad - he's the only manager that i still care to know... :) he's the coolest, most laid-back, AWESOME boss i've ever had. i miss working for him very much! i go and visit him every chance i get, and text him when i get bored (sorry Brat-ley... i still don't have pictures... i'm working on it...) oh, and he gives me and my family members a good deal on anything we want... just cuz he rocks like that. gotta love it!
3) Mikey - the biggest, most muscly associate ever to work in the plumbing department... when he was applying, we had a bet going on where he would be working... (aaaaand i almost tripped over my jaw that dropped to the floor the first time i saw him... crap) my guess was Lumber, Lex guessed Hardware/Tools... we were both wrong. they put him with us back in Plumbing and i had never been happier! we made a great pair! we did everything together! we were the "Dynamic Duo of the Lowe's in Bellevue". everyone knew us and everyone knew that if you asked one of us to do something, both of us were on it like white-on-rice. it worked out quite well if i do say so myself!! we did lunch every day, regardless of if we worked the same hours or not... i miss our lunch-talks... baby i love you! *muah*
4) Dana "Shmeck" - oh lady... you so pretty!! and that baby of yours?! gunna be a heart-breaker for sure!! she's the cutest! do you remember the first day we met?! and the first week we started the Lowe's Bowling Crew?! oh wow... those were the days!! she's amazing people! she taught me all the ropes of the front end, and how to not take crap from anyone! i owe a lot to her! ah the memories! using duct tape to hold her pants together, making the "attitude adjuster"... and the "mini-attitude adjuster"... you know, for those minor adjustments... awesome. love it.

4 Things people should know about me:
1) i am probly too stubborn for my own good
2) i'm also probly too competitive... i never lose. and don't you forget it.
3) i love taking naps (if it were up to me there would be a mandatory nap time instated throughout America... people would be happier for sure)
4) i will laugh REALLY HARD at just about anything that's funny (and even at things that aren't funny) because i love to laugh! (and because i think that laughing at people's "dumb jokes" makes them happier and feel more loved...)

NEXT, I tag anybody
who wants to be tagged!

*ahh* a fresh start...

this past week/weekend has been a bit too crazy for me.
i'm trying to remember a lot of information from starting my new job Friday.
my family's a crazy bunch, as usual.
and life in general has just been...
well...
stupid.
but having this 3-day-holiday-weekend has also been a great opportunity, because it has given me a chance to un-lax a little and put a little perspective on my life.
not having to work Monday was a blessing in disguise.
i thought it would totally throw me off and make this week really hard to manage, but i was SO wrong...
i woke up at 8 to cloudy skies and decided that was unacceptable, so i went back to sleep until noon.
i took my sweet time taking a shower, drying and straightening my hair, and getting ready for the day (that was already half over) and then did a little therapeutic shopping with Banana (she's the greatest).
we went to a BBQ and then spent some time on the swings, the big toy, and wading through shin-deep water, went to visit a friend, and then called it an early night and went home to bed.
i woke up this morning at 5 without whining and complaining, and the day is only getting better and better!!
i can honestly say that i LOVE my new job! the people are incredible! the environment is fantastic! i just love it. i can't wait to go tomorrow.
how many people do you know that can say that and not be lying?!
i've also been consistently working out for the past little while, and going tanning to take the edge off and it's working out quite nicely. i'm looking more and more Mexican every day, and i'm happier.
my sister had to kinda kick me in the butt and get me to just drop a few things, like the bad-habits they were, and stop wasting my energy on them, but now that i've successfully moved on i'm feeling GREAT!!
gotta love a fresh start...
anyway... i'm gunna continue my fantastic week...
hope everyone is having a GREAT day! :)

first day at my new job

well, i was up at 6am today... it's been a long time since i've actually been coherent at that hour... it was crazy... but i did it!
i got there at about 5 til 8 and walked in... Abi was happy to see me and we got started!
it was a little overwhelming at first, but i've got down how to pull charts... next step is answering the phone and making reminder calls, which i'll do on Tuesday. the scheduling system isn't TOO different from the one i use at my current job, so it shouldn't be too hard to get down.
the one thing that will be tricky is that right NOW i answer the phone:
"Washington Institute of Sports Medicine, this is Kiley"
and starting Tuesday i'll have to answer the phone:
"Pain Consultants of Washington, this is Kiley"
it'll be tricky and probly confusing for the next week or 2...
i'll get it down... hopefully...
anyway, just thought you would all like to know! :)
have a LOVELY day.

another great day to be alive!

even though the sun isn't shining it's a FANTASTIC day!!

it's day 6 of my 7 day challenge and i'm feeling GREAT! :)
i was up at 8 getting ready for my interview, put on some cute clothes, and headed out.
it was a rainy drive, but i tried to stay optimistic and keep my mind in the right place, instead of on the IDIOT drivers... (one of which decided it would be a good idea to flip a you-know-what right as i was headed at them at 35mph... yeah, not really smart... but whatever) i refrained from using my horn and just went on my way.
i went in to my interview, met the other person that will be training me and everything...
so i start Friday! :) (like, day after tomorrow Friday...)
the deats:
it's called Pain Consultants of Washington they deal with older patients with chronic pain. i'll be working 8-Noon for the next week, for training and orientation stuff, and so i can still finish out my last couple weeks at my current job. the people i'll be working with are great. i already know that i'll like them!! :)
it's not going to be easy, but it will be awesome!!
i'm gunna be working 8-Noon and then 2-7 for a couple weeks i think... long days... but i guess i'll have a pretty decent lunch break so i can't complain :) and i'll be making money.
aaaaaaand i'll finally pay off my loans from school! YAY!!!
*sigh* awesome. can't wait to start!!

on another note, i watched the Season Finale of NCIS today between my interview and work... and cried!! :( serious! i was sitting there crying... i'm such a boob... it was a very sad 2 hour finale... i watched the finale of Shark too... and Monday was CSI: Miami finale... (can you BELIEVE what happened?!?!) tonight continues my week of Season Finales... this week will be a hard one for me... i don't like it when my shows end with cliff-hangers... not exactly lovin Jerry Bruckheimer right now...
anyway... yeah...

it's a great... day to be alive...

i know the sun's still shinin' when i close my eyes!...

so i had an interview today.
10am at BusinessCareers with Donna.
wait... let me back up just a sec....
when i woke up this morning it was cold and rainy...
i got in the shower, straightened my hair, got dressed and headed to my interview.
while i was on my way it was pouring down rain...
aaaaand i almost died.
no joke.
there was a Subaru Outback in front of me... a Subaru Outback behind and to the right of me... and a Subaru Outback turning in front of me to go the opposite direction...
i was gripping the wheel so tight my fingers hurt...
my thoughts: "this is it for me. that's it. i'm dead."
luckily i made it.
to make matters worse my busted heel caught on the hem of my slacks and ripped the dang thing right out... and it's already hard to walk on it BECAUSE it's broken (i forgot it was like that til it ripped out my hem...) and the entire lobby of this building in Bellevue is tile!! so i'm talking to myself as i walk to the elevator (which i hate)
"ok, slow... don't slip... slow..."
made it to the elevator, made it to the right office. signed in, filled out my thingy, and before i knew it, Donna came out and had me come back to her desk.
she asked me a bunch of questions and scribbled some stuff down on some paper and then had me go in another room to take some short tests (spelling, grammar, math, Microsoft Word and Excel) but before i could finish those she has already found an interview for me with someone that wanted to make me an offer TODAY!
the interview was set for 1:00pm and it's for a place just up the hill from my current job!!
how convenient!
i was finished with everything in time to have a bite to eat with Banana at AppleBee's (ohmigosh, so good food) and then pick up Sally at the bus stop before the interview. and to top THAT off the sun was out and it had turned into a beautiful day!
finally made it to my interview, went in, went over responsibilities, benefits, pay, hours... the works... met a couple employees that would he helping me train...
aaaaaand they want me back for a second interview and a "trial run" to see if i'm really as serious about this as i think i am tomorrow at 10am...
AHH! i'm excited!!
those benefits, pay and hours i mentioned... yeah
Monday-Thursday: 8-5
Friday: 8-12
Full Benefits, Medical and Dental Health
401K after a year
$2 MORE an hour than my current rate...
CAN life get any better?
i submit that it CANNOT!!

wish me luck!! :)
i'll let ya know how it goes tomorrow.

what did i JUST say?

ever had a moment like this?
you explain something to someone, and they don't listen to the words that are coming out of your mouth, and then they ask you a question that you JUST answered in your explanation, and you really wanna jump through the phone (or over the counter, depending on the situation) and beat them over the head, but since you can't really do that you just wanna be like...
"what did i JUST say?"
example:
#1
conversation with patient via phone...
"Washington Institute of Sports Medicine, this is Kiley"
"hi this is so-and-so, i'd like to set up an appointment for this Thursday at 4:30"
"i'm sorry, i actually don't have a spot at 4:30, the latest one i have that day is a 1:30"
"oh, so you don't have a 4:00?"
"....(insert phrase here)....no, sorry"
#2
conversation with member of club
"i wanted to come in and play a little tennis, would you happen to have a court available at 1:00 today?"
"i'm sorry, i actually don't have any availabilities for the rest of the day"
"oh, so you don't have one at 3:00 either?"
"....(insert phrase here)....no, sorry"
#3
conversation with customer service
"i need to change my contact phone number...the other one doesn't work."
"ok, what's the new number?"
"(BLA)BLA-BLAH"
"ok, so the old number isn't a good number to reach you at?"
"....(insert phrase here)....no..."
honestly people... if you would JUST pay attention the FIRST time, you might not look or sound like a complete IDIOT when you're talking to someone. at least TRY and act professional!!
hello?!

who mails a bug?

found another interesting article!! :)

Customs agents seized more than two dozen giant beetles — some the size of a child's hand — from an overseas package after postal workers heard the insects making scratching noises.

"They are highly destructive insect pests that can cause extensive damage to fruit and vegetable crops, trees, shrubs and turf grasses."

In all, authorities found 26 Hercules, rhinoceros and Goliath beetles. It is illegal to ship live beetles into the United States without a permit from the Department of Agriculture.

i'm a fish

my horoscope for the day, compliments of MSN Astrology:

Today is a day for speaking your truth, Kiley. Whatever you’ve got to say and have been holding back, it’s time to let it out. Even if you’re not feeling at your strongest or most confident, now’s the moment to take a leap of faith. Don’t worry if you have trouble finding the right words, trust that they will come, and that the fruit of your efforts will bring you relief and peace of mind.

ok... this one i might take seriously

Don't take everything so seriously. Consciously lighten up and take the stressful edge off of your work. You will be much more productive if you are able to smile at yourself and feel at ease instead of in competition with everyone around you.

my job isn't exactly stressful or competitive... but i guess i could smile more...

Today you can feel in tune with your most important emotions. You might attempt to focus your energy on creating affection instead of simply unleashing it. You need plenty of affection in your life in order to feel your best. When words fail, try to give yourself the opportunity to express your needs through affecting others in a positive light. You have a special connection to the economy. Giving your time or money to a needy cause helps you feel pleasantly connected with the world.

ok, you had me til you started telling me where to spend my money...

don't ya just love horoscopes?!

RD: Argument Starter

Having a husband creates an extra seven hours a week of housework for women...
A wife saves men from about an hour of housework a week.
University of Michigan

ok, mom, you were right...

reading the Readers Digest again...

The Benefits of Boredom
Carolyn Y. Johnson

"Boredom's doldrums were unavoidable, yet also a primordial soup for some of life's most quintessentially human moments... A long drive home after a frustrating day could force ruminations. A pang of homesickness at the start of a plane ride might put a journey in perspective.
"Increasingly, these empty moments are being saturated with productivity, communication, and the digital distractions offered by an ever-expanding array of slick mobile devices...
"But are we too busy twirling through the songs on our iPods--while checking e-mail, while changing lanes on the highway--to consider whether we are giving up a good thing? We are most human when we feel dull. Lolling around in a state of restlessness is one of life's greatest luxuries--one not available to creatures that spend all their time pursuing mere survival. To be bored is to stop reacting to the external world, and to explore the internal one. It is in these times of reflection that people often discover something new, whether it is an epiphany about a relationship or a new theory about the way the universe works. Granted, many people emerge from boredom feeling that they have accomplished nothing. But is accomplishment really the point of life? There is a strong argument that boredom--so often parodied as a glassy-eyed drooling state of nothingness--is an essential human emotion that underlies art, literature, philosophy, science, and even love."

ok, ok, ok... mom was right when she said that sometimes it's good to just sit and listen. we're missing out on so much when we constantly have something going on or making noise... i guess i should take more time to listen...

you KNOW why!

what's THAT supposed to mean?!

"TO THE BIG TOY!!!"

jennifer shouts as she takes off, flip-flops and all, across the playground...
moments earlier she was swinging on the swing set with her best friend, banana.
you know, on her stomach in the swing and everything.
camera and cell phone raised to "charge" in one hand, holding the top of her pants (that are recently too big for her) in the other, she tears across the grassy hill toward the big toy.
it's dark.
there's no one around.
the grass is a little wet, but who cares. they've got too much energy.
banana shouts from behind "wait! i wanna race you!"
jennifer stops and turns just as banana catches up and passes without even a hesitation.
they're off!
snapping pictures right and left...
chatting it up through the yellow microphone thing about nothing in particular.
then it's to the twisty slide! more pictures
now it's the rings...
see how long you can hold yourself up...
jennifer manages to flip herself upside down long enough for a picture.
next is the baby swings...
as they wander over they reminisce about past experiences...
getting their butts stuck in the seat...
slamming face-first into the ground while their feet are still caught in the leg holes...
good times.
then it's to the fence.
who knew a fence could be so much fun?
banana climbs over and leaps off the other side, full-super-star formation
caught in action by jennifer
wet footprints on the sidewalk
strike a pose!
jennifer tries to climb over a particularly tall section of the fence...
fails...
she tries to balance, laying across the top...
falls off the other side...
caught on camera by banana

"crap! i'm wired!"
"must be that shot of seven+..."
"IT'S BETTER THAN CRACK!!"
*both laughing*

*sigh* time for a movie...
all-in-all, a fun night at the park...
definitely gotta do that again...

in the market... as it were...

it's been a year and 2 weeks since i started this part-time job i'm at right now...
i think it's time for a change...
i applied for school this morning (yes, it was actually morning... shocker)
the plan is: online classes and a full-time job...
i was dinking around on the internet during work today and YET ANOTHER article caught my attention... this one is pretty funny... and it goes right along with the job-ish theme of this blog :)

Here are 10 real-life mistakes that illustrate what not to do when you sit down for your next interview:

1. Candidate answered cell phone and asked the interviewer to leave her own office because it was a "private" conversation.

2. Applicant told the interviewer he wouldn't be able to stay with the job long because he thought he might get an inheritance if his uncle died – and his uncle wasn't "looking too good."

3. The job seeker asked the interviewer for a ride home after the interview.

4. The applicant smelled his armpits on the way to the interview room.

5. Candidate said she could not provide a writing sample because all of her writing had been for the CIA and it was "classified."

6. Candidate told the interviewer he was fired for beating up his last boss.

7. When the applicant was offered food before the interview, he declined saying he didn't want to line his stomach with grease before going out drinking.

8. An applicant said she was a "people person" not a "numbers person" – in her interview for an accounting position.

9. During a phone interview the candidate flushed the toilet while talking to hiring manager.

10. The applicant took out a hairbrush and brushed her hair.

seven...

7 quirky things you never knew you wanted to know about me:

1. i am number 4 of 5 children (4 girls, 1 boy) and, sorry sisters, i'm the favorite daughter... i'm the baby girl, therefore the favorite... see how that works? if you ask my mom, i'm their "second son" and a repeat of 2 of my 3 older sisters... also the most dramatic ;) but as far as i'm concerned i'm the favorite! :) i am my daddy's little girl. i've always been more tom-boyish than my other siblings (well, except "the first son" Emily).

2. i can't sleep at night without constant, consistent noise... if you walk into my room it's pretty much like a wind tunnel... i have a box fan, on medium, blowing right at my bed and a little fan hanging above my bed blowing down on me too... i need fresh, circulating air... my sleep-space has to be slightly cold, windy, and soft. i have 2 king-size pillows, 5 standard-size pillows and a down comforter... and it doesn't stop there... underneath all that there's a fitted sheet... (no top sheet, i cant stand top sheets... they just get twisted and tangled and end up on the floor anyway...) there's a padded mattress cover on top of a sleeping bag, on top of a fluffy comforter (folded in half) on top of a "full" mattress... ridiculous? my mom thinks so.

3. i'm slightly claustrophobic... i blame my sisters... small spaces don't really bother me, i don't like elevators, but not because of the confined space... if i can't move my arms and legs i will go ballistic... when i go camping i have to unzip all the way, or sleep on top of my sleeping bag with a blanket... if i'm sitting on a couch with a blanket over me and someone sits by my feet on top of the blanket i have to yank it out or get out somehow... if i can't get out i freak out and start to cry... and those of you that know me know that i DON'T cry...

4. i don't like my food to touch each other... my mom calls me "Kevin" after her younger brother because he always had to have those plates with the little divider things... yeah... if i had those, i'd use them all the time. if i have syrup or gravy or something runny on my plate, i'll even go as far as putting a knife handle under one side of my plate so whatever-it-is won't run into my other food... dad, i don't care if it's all going to the same place, it doesn't have to start all mixed together... that's just gross...

5. i love a good argument... if i need to, i'll even start a fight for no reason! just to get out some aggression, i'll push buttons and try as hard as i can to get someone to argue with me. and i never lose. i will never start a fight that i can't win. or if someone starts a fight with me, i won't give them the benefit of arguing with me unless i know i'm right. yeah, it sounds immature, but you can't tell me that you haven't started a fight just to get a rise out of someone, only to crush them because you know you're right. everyone has done it. i'm just more stubborn than anyone i know. i guess i can blame my parental unit for that... together they made me... the most stubborn human on this earth. and don't you forget it.

6. i'm addicted to silver jewelery. i won't wear gold stuff... only silver. i wear 8 or 9 rings on a daily basis, all of which are silver AND all of them have sentimental value, contrary to popular belief. i always wear a silver, ASL "i love you" necklace and occasionally pair it with a silver 4-leaf clover necklace. i wear silver earrings, whether it's hoops, wings, studs, you name it. i'll even go for a good platinum now and then... it looks silver but it's more durable...

7. i rarely get sick... i'm pretty sure that my immune system is the greatest ever. reason: when i was a little, little kid i sat out in my yard and picked up a rock from the ground, stuck it in my mouth, sucked off the mud, tossed it back and picked up another one... "God made dirt, dirt don't hurt." i'm immune to EVERYTHING. i'm pretty sure i inherited my dad's awesome immune system too... he'll eat stuff out of the fridge that starving kids in Ethiopia wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole and nothing will happen to him. he won't get sick, he won't throw up, nothing. it's incredible... anyway, yeah. genes... (p.s. whoever said that after you throw up you feel better LIED... i feel worse...)

hope you all enjoyed this...
ya never knew you wanted to know huh??

have a day.

be jealous...

Robert Downy Jr...
so hott...
so good actor...
be jealous.
my best friend is the greatest...
she took me to a private screening of Ironman last night...
we were the only ones in the entire theater...
awesome seats we didn't have to fight for, no one to be annoying and kick the back of my seat, no one sitting in front of me so i couldn't put my feet up, no obnoxious kids, nobody... just us. enjoying a truly awesome movie.
definitely gotta own that one.
it was intense and hilarious.
that may have been because i had been up for far too long and was getting a little loopy, but i thought it was pretty humorous...
i'll need to get the soundtrack too...
definitely my kind of music...
my dad calls it "bang your sword on your shield" music...
i call it "good, loud, driving, workout" music
definitely go see it. you won't regret it.

tonight we're gunna go see Made of Honor...

what if no one were fat?

yet another headline that caught my attention...
In the United States today, 66% of adults are overweight. Almost 33% of adults are obese, and 4.7% are morbidly obese, or more than 100 pounds overweight. But . . .

We'd save billions of dollars in gas. Airlines would double their profits. A dearth of diabetes and other diseases would save billions of dollars more -- and put thousands of doctors on the street. McDonald's would sell not Big Macs but little steamed chicken snacks -- or watch its profits melt away. Productivity would rise, potentially creating tens of thousands more jobs or higher wages all around.
Add up the savings on health, food, clothing and efficiencies, and you could buy a professional home gym for every U.S. household -- or hand each $4,270 in cash.

$487 billion in gas, sweat and stretch pants

Yes, it sounds a little wild, but the implications of a leaner, meaner country add up to a weighty $487 billion. That's almost 3.5% of gross domestic product, no small sum.

Mind you, only 1.8% of that is new growth. The rest is a radical shift in resources, away from the needs of our bigger citizens to . . . well, whatever we and our overlords would spend these extra billions on.

First, let's put the meat on that $487 billion. The estimates below assume the average American adult is at least 20 pounds overweight, a figure nutritionists see as fair.

  • Savings on fuel for cars and airlines due to their lighter loads would top $5 billion, according to industry studies. Researchers say each overweight driver burns about 18 additional gallons of gas a year, or just under a billion gallons altogether. Savings in the air are far greater: The jet-fuel savings alone could double North American airlines' forecast 2008 profits to $3.8 billion and maybe persuade them to stop stranding passengers because they can't afford the fuel for flights. As for oil imports, they'd be dented by less than 1%.

  • Plus-sized clothing costs 10% to 15% more, so shoppers would save $10 billion on shirts, pants and dresses. And clothes might fit better too. Cynthia Istook, an associate professor in textile apparel at North Carolina State University, says the economies of making fewer sizes would be tremendous. Clothing makers could then afford to offer more variety in hip and bust sizes, rather than asking every woman to squeeze into an hourglass shape.

  • Because 3,500 calories translates into a pound of fat, somewhere along the way, America's 227 million adults have eaten 16 trillion calories too many. That's 14 billion Big Mac meals, with fries and a soda. Eliminate those and you wipe out $81 billion, or McDonald's past four years of sales.

  • If Americans were slim and maintained their weight by eating 150 fewer calories a day (half a slice of pizza), that could snip roughly 6.5%, or $20 billion a year, off U.S. farmers' sales (assuming no extra exports). Bob Young, the American Farm Bureau's chief economist, says farmers would cope. They'd switch some land from fattening seed oils and sugar beets to fruits and vegetables. Or they might grow corn for ethanol, or even open a hunting resort.

  • The medical costs of obesity-related problems such as diabetes, stroke and heart disease run near $140 billion, or more than 6% of all health-care costs. That ballpark figure was calculated by Joel Cohen, an economic researcher for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, using data from a 1998 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study. Cohen reckons that if no one were fat, medical insurance costs would fall -- to everyone's delight -- and doctors and drug makers could do more preventive care. That sounds good, but Roland Sturm, a senior economist for Rand in Santa Monica, Calif., doubts anyone would pay for preventive care. More likely, he says, some doctors would be on the street. "They could drive cabs," he suggests.

  • Productivity in the workplace would jump as people took fewer sick days and spent less time at work feeling unwell. Ross DeVol, the director of health economics at the Milken Institute, says the loss of productivity due to people showing up at work sick is "immense." Using a recent Milken report on the subject, he calculates that if no one were obese, the added output from workers and their caregivers would give the country a $257 billion boost. That's 1.8% of GDP, enough extra output to allow businesses to hire tens of thousands more workers or to raise wages, economists say. Or at least, that's the theory. Given bosses' love of expanding their profits and their own pay, you can count on some of this being spirited away. Just look at 2000 to 2005, when worker productivity rose 16.6% while median wages rose less than half that amount.

  • "Jenny Craig would be very unhappy" if everyone were slim, says Rand's Sturm. And so she would, along with the rest of the $55 billion weight-loss industry. Trimmed-down citizens would be swapping their diet pills for bikinis and their gastric-banding for nose jobs.

it goes on to end with a section on what to do with all the money saved... but i thought this was interesting... i dont exactly agree with some of the things said in this one, but it's not for me to judge. :)
